The History of Dixie Cleaners
Dixie Cleaners has been a trusted name in dry cleaning since 1945. Our story began when Robert “Wyman” Hutto, a World War II Purple Heart recipient, returned home to Holly Hill, South Carolina, with a vision to build something lasting for his community. That vision took shape with the opening of Dixie Cleaners—a business built on hard work, integrity, and customer care.
In 1970, the business grew into a full-service retail store and plant at its current location on the corner of Gardner Boulevard and Peak Street. In 1985, Wyman passed the torch to his stepson Robert and Mary Mims, who carried on his legacy with the same dedication and care.
By 2019, Dixie Cleaners entered a new chapter under the leadership of Nick and Raj Patel. With years of experience in customer service and business operations, they brought a renewed focus on innovation, investing in cutting-edge equipment and continually reinvesting to improve quality, efficiency, and service.
